How To Understand A Military Pay Chart
If you are in the military, you were given a nice boosted pay raise in October 2008. In a law signed by then-President George W. Bush, an increase of 3.9% was approved to all military personnel. This increase was a half percent higher than President Bush requested in his budget proposal back in February 2008. Soldiers and military personnel receive their monthly stipend checks on the 1st and 15th of every month unless those days fall on a holiday or a weekend to which it will be paid on the following working day. There is a basic military pay chart that those in the military abide by. The chart is comprised of the years served in the military as well as your pay grade that is deemed by your rank. Where those two items meet in the middle of the chart is your allotted pay.
When you begin your service in the military, you are at the lowest ranking for pay. In basic military services (in a non-officer position), typically, someone with less than two years of military service will earn a salary of anywhere from $1400 - $2515/month. When a soldier has reached six years of military service the pay chart designates a salary from $1400 - $3099. Moving up the pay chart, you will see a definite increase in your salary according to the pay chart. Someone with ten years of military experience will earn a salary from $1400-$4421 every month. With over 38 years of service to the Armed Forces, you will not doubt be compensated well. With the highest rank in military services, you can expect to receive a salary of as high as $6863 as of the year 2009.
Your salary increase greatly increases on the military pay chart if you have achieved the ranking of an officer. The chart lines up the same as in a basic military services chart where you take the number of years you have served, against your rank of office and where those two meet is your allotted pay. As a 0-1 officer, meaning you have the lowest rank of office with less than two years of service will earn you a minimum salary of $2655/month. A 0-8 Officer Ranking, which is one of the higher ranked officers will receive a maximum of $9887/month in salary pay. Typically, with an officer pay, the average monthly salary you can anticipate making is approximately $5200.
