How To Figure Out A FY 09 Military Pay Chart
Every year the president of the United States commences with top military personnel to determine the next fiscal year’s salaries for enlisted soldiers and soldiers in the reserve. Depending on the country’s deficit and the type of services currently being served determines how much of a salary increase people in the armed services will receive for the upcoming year. For this year, the amount is predetermined on an FY 09 Military Pay Chart. The “FY” stands for Fiscal Year. This process is very cut and dry. There are no politics involved in the decision making. No favoritism is shown. It is strictly by the book.
It is a very straightforward way that the pay chart is set up. It is designed in a graph form and is determined by the level of office you currently have. The levels are Basic Military, Officer, Commissioned Officer and Reservist. The graph has your years of service in your level of office going across the top of the graph with your ranking of office going up and down the left side of the graph. Where the two meet in the middle, is your predetermined salary for the fiscal year. Your salary can go up or down depending on if you have received a promotion (or in some cases a demotion) in your ranking. You will receive your salary on the 1st and the 15th of every month, unless those days fall on a holiday or weekend to which you will receive it on the next business day.
It is obvious that the higher your rank of office and the more years of service you dedicate to the armed forces mean a higher salary. The military has a very by-the-book demeanor and will not promote you if you have not earned your ranking, regardless of how many years of service you have put into the armed forces. For example, a person who has served the same 16 years in the military, but one person has only earned an O-1 officer ranking and the other has worked harder and earned an O-8 officer ranking, the difference in pay is huge. According to the FY 09 military pay chart, the O-1 ranking officer will only receive a salary of $3341/month while the O-8 ranking officer will receive a much higher salary at $11,235/month. The lesson in all of this is to work diligently and respectfully and you will move up the ladder quickly and get nicely compensated for it. Do the job halfway, and you will not be compensated regardless if you have put in the same number of years.
